Thessalia has the appropriate infrastructure and the resources that are essential for the foundation of a Biomedical Research & Technology Institute. The educational center  CERETETH includes the institutes:  Biomedical Research & Technology (BIOMED, Larissa), Technology and Management of Agricultural Ecosystems (ITEMA, Karditsa),  Human Performance & Rehabilitation (PERFOTECH, Trikala), and  Mechatronics (IMTRONICS, Volos) that is staffed with internationally achnowledged scientific personnel. The clinical Resources of Thessalia  consist of 4 big hospitals and a number of private clinics, which sets the bases to support research protocols.

The Institutes  are spread in the region of Thessalia and there is a collaboration among them. The Institute of Biomedical Research & Technology (BIOMED)  cooperates with the institutes:  Mechatronics to develop  the field of Biomechanics from a scientific and technologic point of view and  the Institute of Human Performance & Rehabilitation (PERFOTECH)  to  develop sensors  to be applied to athletics, and to  parients for  rehabilitation , preoperative and postoperative diagnoses.

 

The founder is also the first Director of the Institute Professor Konstantinos N. MALIZOS.
